Nicholas Cook, a consultant at Wollastons, has been appointed as Chairman of Chelmsford Business Forum.
The Forum provides an opportunity for private and public sector organisations in the borough to work together, share information and build business relationships for the purpose of enhancing the prosperity of the area. Many businesses have already expressed their commitment to the Forum, which it is hoped will play a significant part in shaping the future of the borough.
Over the last decade there has been unprecedented growth of businesses in Chelmsford, which has lead to a substantial reduction in unemployment. Chelmsford continues to offer even more opportunities for business and has many interesting plans in place, including the redevelopment of Chelmer Waterside and the West End, flood prevention works for the town and a major flood barrier in Margaretting. Anglia Ruskin University’s continuing expansion at Rivermead includes the building of a new innovation centre in addition to the usual student facilities. The university’s old central campus site has been released for major redevelopment in the heart of the town.
The effect of the recession has of course also affected the borough, but business and the public sector will be working together to ensure the continued prosperity of the town and support for those who have become victims of the recession.
